The Kings signed Phillip Danault for a comeback

Phillip Danault’s two goals in the third period sparked a strong comeback by the Los Angeles Kings in a 4-3 win over the Columbus Blue Jackets on Tuesday night at Nationwide Arena.

The visitors returned to the dressing room for a second time with a three-goal deficit. 23 seconds into the second intermission, the Quebec forward provided the spark the Kings needed by blocking Matt Roy’s throw from the blue line past Elvis Merzlikins.

Danault followed up five minutes later by not giving up near the net. He barely noticed a puck that the goalie let pass behind him. Arthur Kaliyev led everyone in overtime and it was Drew Doughty who played the heroes in overtime.

Defenseman Vladislav Gavrikov returned to Columbus for the first time since moving to Los Angeles in March. He was well received by his former fans, who undoubtedly appreciated his two assists against their favorites less.

On the other hand, Mathieu Olivier opened his account this season. Johnny Gaudreau and Kirill Marchenko also defeated Pheonix Copley.

The unrecognizable “Sens”

In Ottawa, the Senators surprised and dominated the New York Rangers, winning 6-2.

This convincing result against the most successful team in the National League will certainly give a huge dose of confidence to DJ Smith’s men, who defeated the Seattle Kraken on Saturday.

Drake Batherson and Vladimir Tarasenko led the attack with three points each. The Russian, like captain Brady Tkachuk, scored two goals and found the net for the first time since November 24th.

Defenseman Thomas Chabot was not in uniform with the Senators. During the day, head coach Smith indicated that the Quebecer would have to undergo an MRI scan due to a leg injury he sustained against the Seattle Kraken on Saturday.

This game against the 32nd ranked team in the Bettman bracket was only Chabot’s second since returning to action. The full-back had previously missed ten games after breaking a hand.

Another La Belle Provincial representative, Alexis Lafrenière, scored an assist on K’Andre Miller’s net in the second period.
