Telecinco broadcasts the final part of the third season of the Entrevías series. In La 2, Documentos TV focuses on Disability Day. In La Sexta, the special envoy travels to Turkmenistan with a report on the gas crisis. In the field of cinema, two comedies meet: the crazy Golfus de Roma, which transforms the comedy of Plautus into an unleashed variety show, and The Artist, an almost suicidal project that proposed a silent film in 2011.
“Gulf of Rome”
10 p.m., Movistar Classics
A funny thing happened on the way to the forum. USA-UK, 1966 (100 minutes). Director: Richard Lester. Cast: Zero Mostel, Phil Silvers, Buster Keaton, Michael Crawford, Anette Andre.
Plautus’ comedy “Miles Gloriosus” was initially an extremely successful musical on Broadway. And in 1966, between one Beatles film and another, an unleashed Richard Lester found the time to bring it to the cinema and emphasize its excesses. Golfus de Roma is a comedy that piles up hilarious gags and plays with the viewer at will, until it turns classical Rome into a vaudeville show full of nonsense, dialogues with double meanings and endless movement. Buster Keaton’s final film appearance as the short-sighted and intrepid Erronius, eternal long-distance runner, is simply priceless.
The gas crisis, in “Special Envoy”
10:30 p.m., sixth
This week’s edition of Special Envoy, Jalis de la Serna’s program examines how the recent energy crisis is forcing Europe to look for new markets to become self-sufficient. One option the EU is exploring is sourcing gas from Central Asia. The program travels to Turkmenistan, one of the most unknown and secretive countries in the world and often compared to North Korea, to analyze the feasibility of the proposal.
‘The artist’
22.50, TCM
France, 2011 (100 minutes). Director: Michel Hazanavicius. Performers: Jean Dujardin, Bérénice Bejo, John Goodman.
For almost ten years, Michel Hazanavicius sought financing for a project that seemed anachronistic: a silent film in black and white. We have to be grateful that he didn’t give up. The result, a stunning success, is this unforgettable homage to classic Hollywood cinema. And the truth is that both the filmmaker’s almost suicidal courage and his extraordinary ability to create a film of exuberant emotionality are surprising, even though his story is woven from more than just familiar threads. The story of “The Artist” has been seen many times, but the passion that the director exudes, without lying, without swallowing his gaze, leads him to create stunning images in every sequence and, moreover, to create such believable characters draw. so close, supported by a few actors in a state of grace. The artist is one of those miracles that still makes us believe in the magic of cinema.
Disability Day, in “Documentos TV”
23.50, La 2
On the occasion of Disability Day, Documentos TV broadcasts the report Made to Measure, which addresses the challenge of disability inclusion in the glamorous world of fashion. A work that shows how 17 models with different disabilities and 14 haute couture couturiers, as well as trainees and volunteers, put on a solidarity show in Paris to claim and make visible a different kind of beauty.
Last episode of the series “Entrevias”
11.50 p.m., Telecinco
The series Entrevías piles up conflict in its final episode. Jimena and Amanda’s wedding day is overshadowed by Tente’s murder. With this in mind, Tirso assumes that he cannot bear everyone’s burden and decides to hand over the weapons that the warehouse has to the police, not knowing that Romero has other plans for them. Furthermore, Ezequiel is arrested by Amanda and learns that he is accused of corruption, which could land him in prison again.
