The last French soldiers withdraw from Mali

(ANSA) — PARIS, AUGUST 15 — The French withdrawal from Mali has been completed and the last soldiers left the African country today, the French General Staff announced from Paris.

The French military contingent, present for almost a decade in support of the Bamako government against jihadist rebels, was withdrawn by President Emmanuel Macron’s decision after Paris entered a conflict with the military junta that took power in Mali in August 2020 took over. (ANSA).
