A lot of people were horrified by a certain moment that happened in the second episode of ‘The last of us‘, [spoiler] where we saw the character Tess (Anna Torv) kiss a clicker.
However, the creator and screenwriter of the series and game Neil Druckman has a plausible explanation for the scene to EW.
In the present case, the smuggler Tess dies of a Cordyceps infection. But instead of being bitten, the character is literally kissed by another infected person.
“The infection doesn’t have to be severe unless you’re actively fighting the fungus. We show that in a beautiful and frightening way with Anna. It was Craig Mazin’s idea when we were figuring out how to further separate the infected from the normal zombies. It’s not just a bite, there’s more to it.” printman.
Keep in mind that the form of the infection is different from the original game released in 2013. In the plot of PlayStationCordyceps was transmitted via airborne spores, necessitating the wearing of masks in certain locations.
THE HBO Max also released a preview of the 3rd episode, which premiered in January 29th.
