Juan Miguel Isla was last seen on July 22 at the Manzanares (Ciudad Real) market, where he had been raising cash for the sale of his family’s land in the neighboring town of La Solana. And nothing was ever heard from him again. The last trace of the 59-year-old Isla is a video showing the disappeared man’s vehicle leaving Manzanares towards Membrilla on the N-430A highway, presumably driven by him. The Civil Guard have released the images of the Renault Clio, registration number 2786-FXW, asking for the cooperation of citizens to locate both the missing person and the tourist, after six months and five days of no news from Isla.
Video released this morning shows the silver-grey Clio leaving Manzanares, with no images showing who is behind the wheel. However, the Civil Guard explains that the recording corresponds to the moment the now-vanished man “leaved hours after he was last seen, leaving the city of Manzanares towards Membrilla along the N-430A highway,” suggesting that the driver was missing.
Isla had gone to Manzanares on the 21st to raise a large sum in cash for the sale of some of her family’s possessions in a nearby town. So he took the Clio and left Playa de San Juan in Alicante, where he lives with his wife and children, to collect the €50,000 owed to him. In principle it was quoted in the town of La Solana, the nearest town from Membrilla on the N-430. The last time he was seen in public was at the Manzanares market. The sources consulted did not indicate whether he came to collect the debt.
The missing person is about 1.76 meters tall, weighs about 80 kilos, has brown eyes and is partially bald, according to the poster published by the SOS Disappeared Association. The People’s Department of the Armed Institute’s Central Operational Unit (UCO) has taken over the case. The Civil Guard has asked citizens who have information to submit it by calling 627 218 781 or emailing [email protected].
