A group of activists from the “Last Generation” movement blocked the runway at Berlin Airport, which was forced to suspend flights. The German media reported that some climate activists reached the airport by bike, others on foot. The police are said to have been notified shortly before the protest.
The activists entered two areas of the airport, north and south, and because of this, both runways were temporarily closed for more than an hour, causing various inconveniences. Airport officials then said that operations had resumed on both runways, but added that “delays are still occurring. We ask for patience”.
