The Lighthouse of Memories, which aired yesterday on Rai 1, is a film directed by Rich Newey and starring Jack Armstrong (played by Sam Page). The latter is a war veteran, a veteran of the conflict in Iraq. Unfortunately, in America he tragically loses his wife Lizzie (played by Amanda Schull) in a traffic accident. Widowed and raising two children – Mikki and Tyler (Madeline Grace Popovich and Gavin Borders), he must find the strength to move on with his life. While Tyler is still small and less “problematic,” Mikki is going through the roughest part of puberty.
As summer approaches, the veteran decides to take his kids on vacation to Channing, a small town near the ocean where Lizzie lived for a time and where her grandparents still live. Boys. Once there, relatives take them to a house near the local lighthouse. Jack understands that Lizzie’s mother Bonnie (Elizabeth Becka) can’t take it anymore and decides to devote time to renovating the lighthouse, also in honor of his late wife. Jack and Bonnie never got along in every way, but out of love for Mikki and Tyler, they decide not to compete. After waiting a while to cook up some meat for their stay, Jenna Fontaine (Sarah Drew) arrives, a young divorcee who has recently moved to Channing with her son – more or less the same age as Mikki, Liam (Bryant Prince). has arrived. As time goes by, a special bond seems to form between Jack and Jenna, allowing the man to move on.

It seems that “The Lighthouse of Memories” “Memories” – pardon the pun – is a Mediaset fiction that has been particularly loved and haunted over the many years of broadcast. The romantic atmospheres are in fact the same as in Inga Lindstrom, these German products created for television because they are totally sentimental. As someone will surely remember, these films are adaptations of works by the author Christiane Sadlo and have been broadcast in Germany on ZDF since 2004, while in Italy they are usually re-proposed in Canale 5’s summer programme.
Inga Lindstrom is divided into 19 seasons, each of which has 60-80 minute episodes (so just short of a real movie). The resemblance to The Lighthouse of Memories is precisely related to the telling of sentimental stories in which a widower or widower almost always meets a new love, in a simple and linear plot, but at the same time very entertaining. The only difference is the setting. In fact, yesterday’s film has America as its setting, while Inga’s saga definitely has Sweden or the Scandinavian countries.
