The little girl who was the subject of an Amber Alert was found, her mother was arrested

Montreal police say the little girl whose disappearance Tuesday led to an Amber Alert was found safe and sound Wednesday evening.

The Montreal City Police Service (SPVM) adds that the little girl's mother, a young woman of 18, has also been located.

The two people were found around 2:05 a.m. at an undisclosed location in the Saint-Laurent district, northwest of Montreal.

According to police, the girl was in good health. His mother was arrested and was scheduled to be interviewed by SPVM investigators later Wednesday.

The police did not provide any further information about the circumstances that led to the discovery of the two people and the lifting of the alarm.

The girl was reported missing around 9:25 a.m. Tuesday from her maternal grandparents' home in the Lachine neighborhood of southwest Montreal. The grandparents noticed that she was not in her room at the time and that a nearby window was open.

The mother and father do not have custody of the girl, police said. The father was questioned to determine whether he had had contact with the mother, but was not considered a suspect in the disappearance.
