A new coffee shop chain called Stars Coffee was inaugurated in Russia on Thursday: the name and logo are strongly reminiscent of those of the US chain Starbucks, which, like other companies, ceased operations in Russia after the invasion of Ukraine had in the country. Stars Coffee was founded by Russian singer and entrepreneur Timur Yunusov, known as Timati, and Russian restaurateur Anton Pinskiy.
Pictured below is the sign of a newly opened Stars Coffee in Moscow in an old Starbucks HQ: Instead of the traditional mermaid, the Stars Coffee logo features a woman wearing a headdress with a star. Starbucks did not comment on the similarity of the new chain’s logo and name, only repeating that it has no intention of resuming operations in Russia.
