The Ministry of Sports cuts Vinicius Rodrigues' athlete scholarship because of BBB 24 TV

Vinicius Rodrigues lost the Bolsa Atleta due to his participation in BBB 24. The Ministry of Sports, through the National Secretariat of High Performance, announced on Wednesday evening (10) that the Paralympic athlete will no longer receive the benefit of R$ 15,000 per month.

In a note sent to TV news, the agency explained the decision, which was made after Rodrigues did not announce that he would participate in the detention program. In 2022, sprinter Paulo André Camilo also had his performance cut after being confirmed for the attraction.

“The Ministry of Sports, through the National High Performance Secretariat, informed the athlete Vinícius Rodrigues on September 1, 2024 of his participation in the reality show Big Brother Brasil 2024, produced and shown by TV Globo.”

After confirmation of participation in the program, payment of the benefit will be suspended due to the athlete's failure to comply with the approved sports plan. When the athlete leaves BBB 24, he will be notified again to confirm whether he will continue to train and participate in competitions within the scope of the sports plan for reactivation of performance submitted to the Ministry of Sports.

“If this does not happen, the athlete’s performance will be permanently withdrawn. The athlete has been a scholarship holder since 2016 and has so far received the Pódio scholarship worth R$ 15,000 per month,” the Ministry of Sports added.

The agency announced this on Tuesday (9). TV news that he had not been officially informed about Vinicius Rodrigues' move to BBB 24. He only became aware of the situation after Globo officially announced the participant.
