The moment Russell Brand was slammed by furious Sir Rod Stewart at the GQ Men Of The Year Awards after telling it off

Russell Brand was called out by a furious Sir Rod Stewart at the 2006 GQ Men Of The Year Awards after he told the audience he had slept with the singer’s model daughter Kimberly.

The comedian, now 48, is currently facing charges of sexual assault and abusive and predatory behavior between 2006 and 2013, when he was at the height of his fame, following the release of the bombshell documentary Dispatches on Saturday. He has denied the allegations.

As Russell went on stage at the party to collect his gong, he made a very rude remark: “Credit to Rod Stewart, who attacked me for too much womanizing earlier this year.”

Before adding, “But then again, I tried his daughter too.”

Then, as Sir Rod, now 78, picked up his own trophy, he made a point of condemning Russell for his comment.

The Maggie May hitmaker turned directly to him and said: “You left with my daughter, didn’t you?” “Russell, get up.”

Then the comedian seemed to lose all his bravery and could be heard sheepishly muttering, “I took her out for a night out.”

A furious Rod asked if Russell had behaved on the night in question, when the former Big Brother host backed down and said: “I never touched that girl.”

“Dammit, you didn’t do that,” Rod snapped. “You can’t come here and brag. ‘I’m speaking as a father here.’

Rod – who has eight children in total – shares Kimberly, now 44, and son Sean, 43, with ex-wife Alana, 78.

Brand reportedly tried to make amends after the tense moment and the couple could be seen smiling after the awards ceremony.

Rod later told the Evening Standard: “[Russell] may be a bit of a player, but he shouldn’t brag. I never did. Russell has been a bit shy since I spoke up.’

One woman has claimed Brand raped her at his Los Angeles home, while another accused him of grooming her as they were involved in an alleged “emotionally abusive and controlling relationship” for three months when she was just 16 and was still at school, and he was also 31.

GROSS: When he went on stage at the party to pick up his gong, Russell made a very rude comment and said he had a go at the musician’s daughter (pictured at the event). Called in: Sir Rod Made asked Russell to elaborate after making the rude comment only serves to cause the comedian to back down. A third accuser claimed the comedian sexually assaulted her while she was working with him in Los Angeles and threatened legal action if she told anyone about her allegation, and a fourth detailed the alleged sexual, physical and emotional abuse, to which she was exposed.

Allegations about Russell’s “sinister” behavior towards women were an “open secret” among television and radio executives, it said.

BBC and Channel 4 bosses have been accused of turning a blind eye to the entertainer’s behavior when he worked for them as a presenter between 2006 and 2013.

Broadcasters have insisted they have taken all necessary steps regarding him, but executives could still be called before a government select committee where MPs will question them about what they know.

Brand has been accused of rape, sexual assault and emotional abuse by multiple women, including one who says she was 16 at the time.

His behavior was said to be well known among female performers in the comedy scene, who allegedly warned each other about him.

Rand posted a video on YouTube and Twitter refuting the allegations and insisting that the relationships at the time of his promiscuity were “consensual.”

However, his attitude towards women in radio and television productions was said to be an open secret, according to sources who informed the Sunday Times.

Reconciliation: Brand reportedly tried to make amends after the tense moment and the couple could be seen smiling after the awards ceremony. Shocking: In a series of allegations, the 48-year-old comedian was accused of sexual assault and abusive and predatory behavior between 2006 and 2013, when he was at the height of his fame. He has denied the allegations (pictured on Saturday)

He has also repeatedly made sensational and controversial statements about women on his shows – including calling news anchor Andrea Simmons a “sex bombshell”, describing her as “erotic” and saying he wanted to “go under the desk” while she was doing it be reading the news.

In 2008, there was a major public backlash after Brand and Jonathan Ross called popular Fawlty Towers actor Andrew Sachs during Brand’s show and left offensive messages on his answering machine – including bragging about having sex with Sachs’ granddaughter Georgina Baillie, with whom he dated relationship.

According to the Sunday Times, many believe the BBC should have been heeding concerns about Brand’s behavior on his show long before the Sachsgate scandal.

In December 2007, BBC staff reportedly made a serious complaint to Lesley Douglas, the channel’s head, about Brand’s behavior in the studio.

Alice – not her real name – claims Brand attacked her when he was 31 and she was 16, and his “sex addict personality is just a front for his dark behavior”.

The Times reported that the complaint followed an “alarming display of aggression and disrespect” by the radio host, during which he hurled objects in a fit of rage.

It was also reported that he urinated into a bottle in front of production staff and a guest who “appeared to be underage” and was invited by a charity to appear on Radio 2.

This alleged complaint and any other complaints made were not mentioned in subsequent official reports to Sachsgate.

Douglas’ lawyers said she “at no time encouraged, enabled and/or failed to take reasonable steps within her power regarding Russell Brand’s conduct of which she was aware.”

“Due to the obligations she has to her former employer, she is currently unable to provide any further information that may be relevant to the matters raised in this article,” her lawyers added.

Brand left the BBC after the serious editorial breach in 2008, as did Douglas.
