It’s the moment when gunmen fired at each other from speeding cars before colliding head-on in a brutal crash that sounded like “a bomb going off” according to a shocked bystander.
Janine Bauer’s doorbell camera captured the shootout outside her home on a quiet street in Milwaukee on Sunday afternoon.
Seven people between the ages of 15 and 20 were arrested in connection with the horrific incident.
The footage initially shows one car hurtling down the street, while at least five gunshots are heard as a passenger leans out of a window.
Jeanine Bauer’s doorbell camera captured the horrific gunfight near 77th Street and Lisbon in Milwaukee on Sunday at 6:23 p.m. In the picture, a man is hung out of the car when shots are heard.
The horrific footage first shows a single car hurtling down a residential street as at least five gunshots are heard. Then another car speeds down the street and crashes into the first car.
Then another car rushes down the street from the opposite direction and crashes head-on into the first car.
Puffs of smoke billow from the cars’ engines as they collide and spin to a halt.
Ms Bauer, 62, can then be heard shouting, “Jesus Christ.”
The door of the second car then swings open and the two men flee the scene.
Ms. Bauer then yells, “Call the police! Right now.’
A dog barking can be heard in the background as two more men run out of the second car and run away, apparently leaving the fifth man lying on the road.
Jeanine Bauer said: “The experience was huge. I don’t know how anyone survived… I’m still shaking from it’
The door of the second car swings open and two men are seen running from the scene.
Police say the crash at 6:23 p.m. was so bad it tore both cars apart, with huge pieces of metal left on the street near 77th Street and Lisbon a day later.
Ms Bauer told MailOnline: “When it happened, I was in my office at the back of the house, the window was open, and all of a sudden I heard some pops, and then it sounded like a bomb went off.
“I flew to the front and saw two cars mangled by smoke, people were falling out of them and running, one person was on the ground, etc.
“I yelled at my husband to call the police, but the phone was closer, so I did it.
“They were there in less than three minutes. We’ve been living on my block for 27 years this October, it’s a quiet residential area where it’s not normal.
“There are families with small children and elderly people. Physically, we are fine, but very shaken and mentally exhausted by this experience.”
Ms Bauer told CBS: “Suddenly you hear this massive explosion. It literally sounded like a bomb went off.
“The impression was huge. I don’t know how anyone survived.
“What happened yesterday was beyond comprehension. I’m still shaking from it.”
She added that she had to prevent her husband from going to the aid of the wounded because she did not want him to end up being shot.
Milwaukee police found two handguns at the scene, and rescuers had to cut one person out of one of the cars.
Police say the crash was so bad that both cars were torn apart, and a day later huge pieces of metal were left on the street.
An 18-year-old man was taken to the hospital, but everyone survived both the shooting and the accident.
Acting Mayor Cavalier Johnson’s office issued a statement saying, “He received a detailed briefing from the police department regarding this shooting.
“He is disturbed by impudence and disregard for life.
“The mayor also appreciates the work of the police and the numerous arrests.
“He continues to work with the police and with the violence prevention teams in the city.
“He also wants state legislators to seriously consider the ongoing issue of guns in the hands of people who shouldn’t have them.
“It’s also time to reconsider the lack of restrictions on gun sales in private.”
The Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office will review any criminal charges.
