The Montreal Alouettes are aiming for their best record since 2012

The Alouettes would like to finish the regular season with a five-game winning streak and an 11-7 record, which would be the Montreal club’s best record since 2012. The reality remains that this Saturday’s game at Percival Molson Stadium against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats is without any real stakes.

With the Halloween theme taking center stage, the main goal on the field is to prepare for the following game, the Nov. 4 Eastern semifinal in Montreal between the same two teams.

On the opposing side, head coach Orlondo Steinauer has already indicated that he will use quarterback Bo Levi Mitchell for part of Saturday’s game.

“We’re not worried about the other team, we’re doing what’s best for our club and in that sense it’s better to have Bo in uniform to play a little bit,” Steinauer said at a press conference earlier this week. We want to see adjustments in calling plays and we want continuity. This game is perfect for us. This is what we need in our current situation. We see this as an opportunity to get better as a team.”

33-year-old Bo Levi Mitchell is one of the best in his field in the Canadian Football League, but has only played in five games this season due to a right leg injury.

Almondo Sewell is missing

For the Alouettes, Cody Fajardo, Caleb Evans and Davis Alexander will all be in uniform and ready to act as a linchpin in the offense depending on how the game plays out.

Friday’s roster reveal also suggests the Alouettes wanted to give defenseman Almondo Sewell a break. Running back William Stanback and kicker David Côté are also back in the game, as is Tyrell Richards, a key member of the special teams.

Keep in mind that because of the rules surrounding the salary cap, the Alouettes didn’t have the opportunity to give most of the veterans a break. However, head coach Jason Maas will be tasked with managing the playing time of all players.
