The world-famous Muppets are back on Disney+ in a brand new comedy series called Muppet Mayhem starring Lilly Singh as a human.
According to a Disney+ announcement, The Muppets Mayhem will take viewers on a “musical journey” as The Electric Mayhem Band changes stage to studio to record their first ever album backed by a young music executive named Nora (Lilly Singh) who will manage and bicker with all the chaos that comes from working with a group.
The old-fashioned band Muppet will be the focus of the new series: Dr. Teeth will lead the group on vocals and keyboards, Animal on drums, Floyd Pepper on vocals and bass, Janice on vocals and lead guitar, Zoot on saxophone. , and Lips on trumpet as they rock and roll their way through the modern music scene in an effort to finally go platinum.

Goldberg creator Adam F. Goldberg, along with Bill Barretta and Geoff Yorkes, developed the series based on the characters created by Jim Henson. Goldberg and Barretta are executive producers, with Yorke co-executive producer. Michael Bostick and Chris Eber are also executive producers, along with David Lightbody and Lee Slaughter of The Muppets Studio.

The Muppets Mayhem is the latest showcase of Henson’s creations on Disney Plus. Streamer had previously worked with Baretta on Muppets Haunted Mansion, The Muppets Studio’s first platform special, which was awarded an 8 out of 10 by IGN for presenting “an ingenious combination of Halloween with two beloved objects.”

Prior to this, the Muppets starred in a Disney Plus short series called “The Muppets Now” that followed Scooter as he rushed to meet delivery deadlines and upload a brand new episode of The Muppets for streaming. IGN acknowledged that this series had a few more hurdles to overcome after its premiere episode appeared to lack a real “hub”.
