Russia is also experiencing military setbacks. Last Thursday, Moscow lost the most important ship in its fleet in the Black Sea, the Moskva. What happens to the crew? On April 16, the Russians released a video that raises questions.
Two rows of hundreds of sailors and officers stand at attention in pictures released by the Russian Defense Ministry. The ministry presents these images as those of the survivors of the sinking of the Moscow River. We see the commander of the frigate next to the chief of the Russian Navy. Only one statement was not cut. The crew of the Moskva boat is at the heroic main base in Sevastopol. These officers will continue to serve in the Navy, said Admiral Nikolai Levmenov, Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy.
Russia is keeping the fate of the crew a secret. The ship sank last Thursday, April 14, but no one has been officially killed or injured. All seamen, about 600, would have been evacuated in time. However, during a tribute to Sevastopol in Russia that will be held the next day, we see a funeral wreath dedicated to the Moskva River and her sailors. The France Télévisions teams have tried to join the sailors in Sevastopol, but no one wants to speak at the moment. The sinking of the boat is still presented as a simple accident.
