July 4 update:

Alongside these teases, another source of information stood out: Evan Blass, known in the tech world for his often accurate and relevant leaks, recently released official snaps of the Nothing Phone (2). These images appear to be for press use and were likely embargoed until released on Evan Blass’ Twitter account.

The images shared by Blass confirm what MKBHD has shown us before: the Nothing Phone (2) bears a strong resemblance to its predecessor, the Phone (1). The general design, the shape, the size, everything seems to follow the line of its predecessor. However, the obvious point is the significant increase in the number of LEDs on the back of the device. This design choice, which may seem trivial at first glance, is surprising and intrigues both consumers and industry professionals. It will be interesting to see how users react to this change and how it affects the daily use of the device.

Original article from July 3rd:

On July 11, Nothing is preparing to unveil its second smartphone model, the Nothing phone (2). As usual with this brand, the rumors and teasers are piling up and fueling the anticipation. Every detail revealed, every snap shared adds to the conversation and keeps the audience’s attention on the brand. A well-oiled strategy that’s by no means new, dating back to when the founders of Nothing were part of the OnePlus team.

Back then, OnePlus managed to grab a piece of the highly competitive smartphone market by creating a buzz even before it was launched. Today, Nothing picks up that torch and appears to have won its bet.

So what are the interesting details that we can already pull together?

A design that plays the minor evolution card

The first major revelation came from Marques Brownlee, aka MKBHD, a famous tech-savvy Youtuber. MKBHD has already received the first Nothing Phone (1) and gives us an overview of the new design of the Nothing Phone (2).

The Phone (2) maintains the sleek and flat appearance of the Nothing Phone (1), which evokes the lines of the iPhone. However, several updates are worth noting, including changing the back cover from black to a more gray hue.

The most drastic change concerns the design of the LEDs on the back. Nothing Phone 1 had 12 of these, arranged in a glyph pattern. The Nothing Phone (2) has 33 and keeps the same glyph shapebut divided into several small units.

Intelligently integrated LEDs

According to Marques Brownlee, these LEDs can still be programmed via the phone’s software. The company seems to have focused on this feature: 16 of the 33 LEDs are arranged in an arc to offer more possibilities.

This arc can be programmed to act as a progress bar. For example, if you adjust the volume using the phone’s side buttons, the arch fills and empties accordingly. Likewise, you can set a timer and watch the arc gradually dim.

But the possibilities go beyond that. Other sections of the glyph can stay lit until you process specific notifications, or you can program a sequential light pattern that acts as a custom ringtone. However, Nothing does not plan to open this feature to third-party notificationsaccording to Marques Brownlee.

Photographic performance on the rise?

But design is not everything. Nothing also shared snaps taken with the Nothing Phone (2), posted by by the founders of Nothing, journalists and influencers respecting a specific embargo. These photos show a significant improvement over the Nothing Phone (1) with higher contrast and brighter colors.

In short, see you on July 11th.
