The Neighbors producer reveals what you’ll never hear again in the rebooted soap after it moved to Amazon

Since moving to Amazon, Australian soap Neighbors has been able to make some very modern changes.

Thanks to the looser rules on the American streaming service Prime Video, the characters can now swear.

But the series’ script producer, Shane Isheev, told TV Tonight that there will be no blue language in the episodes.

“We are still PG in the way we plan and work with scripts,” he said.

“We also had a big discussion about, ‘Just because we can swear a little more now, should we?’ Is this Neighbors? Is that the brand? Are people tuning in to that? Is this the world we operate in?”‘ He continued.

“And we came to the conclusion that we still want it to be Neighbors.” “So yes, we have a little more leeway in certain things, but we don’t go too far with it.”

This comes after executive producer Jason Herbison shared the shocking plot twist that sent Neighbors fans into a tailspin.

The soap underwent a two-year time jump that previously surprised viewers.

But in those two years, two beloved characters fell in love – Toadie (Ryan Moloney) and Terese (Rebekah Elmaloglou).

It came as a surprise to many viewers when Toadie married Melanie (Lucinda Cowden) in the 2022 finale.

Herbison explained to TV Tonight why the show made the decision to change the plot so drastically.

“With the two-year time jump, I wanted to reward the audience with a really surprising twist,” he said.

“It’s very possible for two unexpected characters to fall in love during this time period, and it would make perfect sense if you saw it.”

Herbison continued: “The difference is that you didn’t see it – so now we’re asking you to keep watching and find out how it happened.”
