A year ago, in the same days, Omicron was widely used and restrictions were again planned. On the other hand, two years ago, in the middle of the holidays, we took the path of closures. Today, almost three years after the first spark of the pandemic, the reality is fundamentally different: living together with Sars-CoV-2 is “mature” and is returning to a largely normal life. For Professor Franco Locatelli, President of the Superior Health Council (CSS) and former Coordinator of the Scientific-Technical Committee (CTS) for the Covid emergency, “we are no longer in a pandemic period, but in a phase of endemization”. A paradigm shift that does not, however, cancel out everything else: the vaccination campaign, for example, must continue, especially the fourth dose for the elderly and infirm. Because it is precisely the immunization – that from the vaccine and also that from recovery – that makes the difference compared to the critical situation that can be observed in China again.
