Santiago de Chile, January 12 (Prensa Latina) The third edition of the “Museums in Summer” event takes place today in Chile, with more than 150 free activities aimed at bringing these cultural spaces closer to the population throughout the national territory.
It is an initiative of the Ministry of Culture, Arts and Heritage that includes both public and private establishments whose doors remain open during extended opening hours and with special activities.
There will be tours of the facilities, tours and events designed specifically for the day, assured portfolio owner Julieta Brodsky.
In this capital, the National History Museum in the Plaza de Armas will host a family workshop to learn about the history and messages of the costumes, and to reflect on the relationship between the body, clothing and gender.
The southern city of Concepción invited visitors and residents to take a night tour of the General Cemetery as part of a theatrical activity depicting historical and popular figures buried there.
This necropolis is one of the oldest and most important in Chile, and patrimonial rescue work is carried out there, which includes not only tombs and mausoleums but also their green spaces.
The Arica and Parinacota region in the north of the country offers a tour of areas where the Chinchorro culture, known for their artificial mummification techniques, developed more than seven thousand years ago.
In Biobío they will open access to the Puchoco-Schwagers mining complex, where coal mining flourished in the second half of the 19th and early 20th centuries and which was declared a National Monument in 2010.
It will be an intense day in the middle of the summer holiday season and with various options to learn more about the country’s history, culture, traditions and heritage.
