The new faces that will be blasting your screen this winter

The focus on cultural and gender diversity in recent years is bearing fruit. It has led to a perceived risk-taking that, beyond the criteria mentioned, is allowing more new faces to make themselves known on our airwaves. We find that some of them have a multidisciplinary background, a sign of the desire to multiply the possibilities of expression or, quite simply, to embrace culture in different forms. Put the spotlight on talent that deserves to be known.

Noé Lira – Manuela in “The Emperor”.

Once she arrives at the advertising agency as a receptionist/assistant, Manuela asserts herself through her assurance and interpersonal skills. We quickly understand from the first episode that she knew how to assert herself and become indispensable. His interpreter Noé blows up the screen. A multidisciplinary Quebec-Mexican artist, she multiplies her training in dance, circus arts, singing, music and acting to commit to making an impact. Starring in the web series Just the Two of Us, we see her in Perfect Moments. She will also appear in the cast of The Candidate series. A committed singer-songwriter (for the environment and for women’s causes), we can discover her thanks to her album Latiendo la tierra and the tour that currently accompanies it. She is also part of Révélations Radio-Canada.

Wednesday 8 p.m. on Noovo

Margot Blondin – Margot in the red bracelets

Several challenges await young Margot, who has been diagnosed with aggressive ovarian cancer similar to the one that killed her mother. As Justin’s new “roommate” at the hospital, she must contend with her condition, her grief, and her father’s anguish. In real life, Margot Blondin, who she portrays, is studying at the UQAM School of Theater. The one who graduated in acting from the Robert Gravel school has multiplied her experience in figuration and inherited 3 roles in cutting-edge films and series (in particular Genesis, Plan B, Drunk birds, Chouchou). Thanks to this character, who needs a lot of courage, she tackles her first major role.

Laurence Champagne – Charlene Dufour in A Beating Heart

Charlene is a victim of domestic violence. As is unfortunately the case with many victims, she minimizes the responsibility of her spouse. Pregnant with a second child, she tries to save her family, even at the cost of her isolation and the beatings inflicted on her by her beloved husband’s frustration and discomfort. A role that is as delicate as it is intense. A first role on television for Laurence, who since leaving the Conservatoire has made a name for herself in the theater (particularly roles in Trident, in Périscope) and in web series (Entrelacés, for which she was nominated among the Gémeaux and Le Killing) d drama in Montreal in 2018.

Vincent Paradis-Montplaisir – Isahak Bogossian in Larry

An unsympathetic, sadistic, impulsive and irrational character, Bogossian acts in his father’s shadow without considering the consequences. A real hothead, crime is his daily life and he knows no bounds. A despicable tough role for this actor we knew as a kid for five years on the youth series Kaboum. A nice return to acting for Vincent, who graduated in 2020 in Interpretation from the Conservatoire d’art dramatique de Montréal. Besides Larry, we also recently saw him in the fantastic series Lac-Noir.

Tuesday 9 p.m. on ICI Télé

Olivier Louissaint in Chef Oli Goes Rural

Olivier Louissaint is self-taught. He worked in various restaurants and became self-employed as a hobby chef in 2015. His focus is on indulgence and simplicity. He also wants to inspire young people and highlight the richness of our local products to get closer to their origins, the farmers. Hence the title of the documentary series in which he shares his experiences and discoveries with us. Because in order to create his own gourmet table, he must have at hand all his products that he can carefully cultivate. Don’t forget to add some spices. Oli, a Quebecois of Haitian origin, shared his recipes on the show 5 chefs dans ma cuisine and took part in the Chefs de bois adventure.

Liliane Blanco-Binette in Big Brother Celebrities

As soon as you entered the representative loft, you could tell that the young comedian had character. A pretty blonde with good interpersonal skills and self-confidence haunts the sound engineer who has to censor her numerous coronations. We already know that thanks to her authenticity, she can take her place and satisfy her 135,000 TikTok subscribers who have followed her madness. A School of Humor graduate in the midst of a pandemic, Liliane was able to carve her niche on social media while creating her first numbers, presented at the last Zoofest festival and on tour. Her fans remember that she performed almost perfectly on Supper. We saw it in an episode of Complètement Lycée and Man laughs at the other, as well as in the Vie de prof capsules with Pierre Hébert. We discovered his direct sense of humor at Next Stand Up.

Sunday to Thursday 6:30 p.m. at the Noovo

Denis Marchand – Claude Rivard in Virage double fault

Being a father to a young athlete comes at a price. Especially when the mother has high hopes for her child. In Virage, Claude is at the helm of a trucking company whose profit margins are shrinking. He is also the father of Charles, a flamboyant tennis player struggling to climb the ranks. A descending career expensive for the patriarch. We can say that Denis Marchand will have been patient. After graduating in Theater from University in 1985, he accumulated small roles and multiplied his engagement and training in the acting field both at home and abroad. Until recently he taught acting. Then he inherited leading roles in 5e rang, District 31, Plan B. And in the cinema in Arlette then Arseneault et fils. As well as his role as Claude Rivard, we also find him hitting À cœur this winter when he portrays a man who has to change his behavior to keep his job. Two roles that show the extent of his talent.
