iPhone and iPad owners can benefit from new features on their smartphones and tablets thanks to the iOS 17.2 / iPad OS 17.2 update. In October, Apple released the first major update for its iOS 17 operating system on the iPhone.

The feature was announced during the iOS 17 presentation, but was ultimately postponed. Therefore, the Journal app will be available with iOS 17.2.
This is a new application that allows us to write down our thoughts or anecdotes of the day.
The application is also able to pull information from applications such as Photos and Health to offer topic suggestions.
And rest assured, prying eyes cannot read our precious newspaper! We can lock everything with Face ID, Touch ID or our PIN code.
Respond to messages with stickers
The iMessage application offers us more options to respond to a message received.
Previously, when we kept our finger pressed on a message, we could respond with a heart, a thumbs up, a thumbs down, the words: haha or even punctuation marks (!! / ?).
However, when we press our finger on a message, we now have the option to add a sticker.
Check iMessage contacts
Apple is still introducing the function in iMessage: Contact Key Verification.
According to Apple, this feature is intended for people who face “extraordinary digital threats.”
They take journalists, human rights defenders, elected officials or high-ranking officials as examples.
To reduce the risk of identity theft and phishing attempts, you can verify the identity of an iMessage contact using a verification code.
More customization options for our Memoji
Coming back to the fun side, Apple offers us more options to personalize our Memoji.
In the creation area of our Memoji we find a new tab: Body.
This allows us to customize the size, chest, shoulders and arms of our Memoji.
The weather widget is enriched
The weather app widget provides further details about the outside temperature.
A new vignette informs us about wind speed, UV index, precipitation and the time of sunrise and sunset.
Shared playlists on Apple Music
Like Spotify, you can now create shared playlists.
That is, we can create a playlist that we share with our loved ones and friends and where everyone can add the songs of their choice.

A translate button on the iPhone 15 Pro

We can actually assign the translate function to this button. So if someone speaks to us in a language we don’t understand, we can press the button to get the translation in real time.
Record space videos
Finally, impatiently waiting for the Apple Vision Pro virtual reality headset, we can start recording spatial videos.
With the camera of our iPhone 15 or iPhone 15 Pro we can therefore shoot videos that we can watch in virtual reality with the Apple headset.
