It has become more current one of the main names of the revolution that began with the death of Mahsa Amini.
Amini was a 22 year old girl who was on vacation in Iran with her family when she was approached by the socalled moral police which monitors compliance with the dress code for Iranian women.
According to Iranian police, she was arrested for “improper use” of the veil. Two days later she was taken into police custody in a serious condition with head injuries and died in hospital.
The death sparked one of the largest movements against the Iranian regime, which is accused of repressing women.
Even though I’m currently in prison and no possibility to receive visitorsMohammadi recently managed to publish an article in the New York Times in which he said this “The more we persevere, the stronger we will be“.
The Iranian government had not commented on the award as of the last update of this report.
