New York City Mayor Eric Adams spent the coldest Friday night of the year with homeless migrants in a shelter.

In a post on Twitter, he is seen eating, sleeping and even playing video games with migrants at the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal shelter.
“We will be spending the night here with our brothers so they know our hearts are with them,” Adams said in a video that accompanied his tweet.

“Our brothers are being kept warm and the team that works here are redefining the words ‘love thy neighbor,'” he said in his post.
The mayor first visited this shelter to “put an end to the rumors that it was too cold […] or that there was no food,” he said in another video posted to his Twitter account.
“The heat and the food are present, and even the snacks are good for the health,” he continues. We have to stop this fear.”

In nearly a year, more than 43,000 migrants have arrived in the city, according to the New York Mayor’s Office.
