One Piece is getting a new anime: Netflix announced a partnership with manga creator Eiichiro Oda to produce a new animated adaptation of the story of Monkey D. Luffy and his friends called The One Piece.
The new animated series is produced by the renowned WIT Studio, which is known to Japanese animation fans for productions such as Spy x Family and the first three seasons of Attack on Titan.

The anime will retell Luffy's story from the beginning of the manga, in other words, it will be another version of the East Blue Saga, the first in the series. According to Netflix's statement, the new adaptation aims to “give viewers a new, yet familiar experience, leveraging cuttingedge technology to reimagine Luffy's adventures.” The promise is that the new anime will be a different experience than will be the original series, although it will retain the same story and characters.

There is no release date for The One Piece yet, but Netflix states that the new anime will be shown exclusively on the streaming service.
Oda's old manga is also being adapted
In addition to the rerelease of One Piece as an anime, Netflix has another piece of news for fans of Eiichiro Oda's creations: The manga Monsters: The Dragon's Curse, which he wrote when he was just 19 years old, will have an anime version starting in January .
The anime tells the story of Ryuma, a samurai in a world threatened by a dragon that can cause great disasters. The anime is scheduled to premiere in January 2024 the exact date has not yet been announced.
It is worth remembering that the second season of the liveaction version of One Piece has been confirmed and is already in production, although there is no release date yet.
