Margot Robbie, star and producer of Barbie, one of the biggest box office hits of the year around the world, was not included in the selection of the best actresses. Rather, Annette Bening (Unsinkable), Lily Gladstone (The American Note), Sandra Hülser (Anatomy of a Fall), Carey Mulligan (Maestro) and Emma Stone (Poor Creatures) were chosen.

Barbie director Greta Gerwig was also “forgotten,” but Margot Robbie was able to take the stage to accept the award for best film as producer. Her playmate America Ferrera is also nominated in the Best Supporting Actress category.

Leonardo DiCaprio also couldn't be one of the candidates for the title of “Best Actor” due to his appearance in “The American Note”. Bradley Cooper (Maestro), Colman Domingo (Rustin), Paul Giamatti (Those Who Remain), Cillian Murphy (Oppenheimer) and Jeffrey Wright (American Fiction) are in the running for this award. Note that Martin Scorsese and Robert De Niro are nominated in the Best Director and Best Supporting Actor categories, respectively.
Well-reviewed and widely discussed films like Emerald Fennell's Saltburn, Ben Affleck's Air, Andrew Haigh's Without Ever Knowing Us, Sofia Coppola's Priscilla and Ava DuVernay's Origin have all bitten the dust.
It is Oppenheimer (13 citations) that dominates the race, ahead of Poor Creatures (11) and The American Note (10).
