The passenger wears 6 kg clothes to avoid baggage ticket in flight

Two women attempted to circumvent an airline’s baggage rules by using nearly kilos of clothing to empty their pockets, one of them carrying nearly 6kg.

What happened?

Adriana Ocampo stacked 15 outfits including tshirts, jackets, jumpsuits and trousers after realizing her hand luggage exceeded the 7kg weight limitreported the British newspaper Mirror.

The 19yearold traveled from Melbourne to her home in Adelaide, Australia, on Jetstar airline.after an outing with girlfriend Emily Altamura, 19, on March 20.

She knew her luggage which weighed 12.5kg was over the allowable limit but hoped the crew didn’t have time to check. “I was in my hotel room and could barely close my luggage and knew my luggage was a bit over limit. As we boarded, we saw them pulling a wagon with a scale,” he said.

Seeing staff weighing passengers’ luggage at the counter, Adriana opened her suitcase and stacked as many items of clothing as possible to avoid the fee. Emily followed suit as her clothing was also over the limit, but the amount of clothing she wore was not reported by her friend.

In one video, Adriana and Emily appear in different clothes, with baggy pants and carrying electronic devices to try to reduce the weight of the bags. and travel without paying a fine from the airline.

“We figured the only way to lighten the weight of our bags was to pack as many pieces of clothing as possible, so we started doing that, but we were still over the limit. They said the fine was $65 and we didn’t want to spend it. $65, so we went back and got more clothes,” he said.

attempt failed

The friends boarded the ship hoping their luggage would be light enough to avoid the cargo.but Adriana’s suitcase, despite her best efforts, still weighed 1kg over the limit.

Despite Adriana wearing ten pounds of clothing, the pair burst out laughing as they surrendered and claimed they had each paid the $65 fine. (more than R$ 320 on the current offer).

The two managed to remove the excess clothing from their bodies and board the ship by paying the fine. However, desperation to travel on budget ended in embarrassment.

“They said we had to get the stuff off our bodies and we had to pay for it. Everyone in line was looking at us and laughing at us, it was kind of embarrassing. People were upset because we held the plane.”

Following the episode’s backlash, a Jetstar Airways spokesperson said, “While we certainly see the funny side, we need to enforce boundaries to make the system fair for everyone.”
