The Patriots’ bewildering last-second faux pas against the Raiders pays BIG for the lucky player

The Patriots’ puzzling last-second slip against the Raiders pays BIG for the lucky player, who bagged $2.8 million when he won a five-game parlay on the back of Chandler Jones’ walk-off touchdown

The doomed fling that lost Sunday’s game for the New England Patriots and led to a shock Raiders win in Las Vegas made a better one $2.8 million richer.

High-stakes sports player Marco Piemonte had hit the first four of a five-game parlay and needed a Raiders win to secure a seven-figure payday.

He faced some nervous moments at the end of regular time when the game was tied at 24. But instead of an overtime, the game came to an abrupt end when New England’s Jakobi Meyers attempted an unwise sideways move that was recovered by former Patriots linebacker Chandler Jones, who returned the ball for a walk-off touchdown.

Jones, younger brother of UFC star Jon, wasn’t the only one partying in Las Vegas. Aside from the 62,000-odd crowd, Piemonte and his friends also appeared to lose control as the Patriots suffered a 30-24 loss.

‘Go, go, go, go, go, go!’ Piemonte and his friends could be heard in a video posted to Instagram.

There was a nervous moment when Piemonte thought the play was devastated, but when he was told “It’s over,” he responded by jumping onto a table, bending over, and screaming at the top of his voice.

Piemonte, known as “Million Dollar Marco” for his high-stakes betting, made headlines earlier in 2021 for winning $1 million by betting $33,000 on a four-team combo.

Piemonte is also an auto dealership with locations in Illinois.

The game’s bizarre ending is already one of the most infamous moments in the NFL.

Jones snagged a bizarre, unnecessary fling from Meyers in the air on the final play and returned it 48 yards for a touchdown.

With the game tied at 24-all, the Patriots decided to run a series of pitches in a last-ditch attempt to avoid overtime. Rhamondre Stevenson threw the ball to Meyers, who heaved it across the field and into the arms of Jones, who stiff-armedly defeated Patriots QB Mac Jones and then faced nothing but open field.

The wild finish saved the Raiders (6-8), who led 17-3 at halftime before allowing the Patriots (7-7) to score 21 straight points. Las Vegas scored two touchdowns in the last 32 seconds and seriously dashed New England’s playoff hopes.

“We’re talking about situational football,” said Patriots coach Bill Belichick. “We talk about it every week but obviously we have to do a better job by playing situational football and not making critical mistakes.”
