The Penguins in Montreal in support of Letang

All members of the Pittsburgh Penguins were in Montreal on Monday to attend the funeral of Kristopher Letang’s father.

This was learned by TVA Sports hockey expert Renaud Lavoie. Montreal Canadiens general manager Kent Hughes was also present at the ceremony honoring Claude Fouquet.

The 35-year-old defender left the Pens entourage in the early days of the new year following the death of his father. For their part, the Penguins went on a three-game trip that took them to Boston, Vegas and Tempe.

The team plane left Arizona Sunday night and landed in Montreal overnight. Head coach Mike Sullivan and his veterans reportedly made the decision to back Letang and return to Pittsburgh later Monday.

The Penguins return to action Tuesday night when the Vancouver Canucks play at PPG Paints Arena.
