Badri Hossein Khamenei, the sister of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic Ali Khamenei, has published a letter wishing “soon the victory of the people and the overthrow of this tyranny in power”. In the letter, published on his son’s Twitter account and reposted by some media outlets, Badri Khamenei criticizes his brother, stating that “the Islamic Republic regime has brought nothing but suffering and oppression to Iran and the Iranians. The Iranian people deserve freedom and prosperity and their insurgency is legitimate and necessary to gain their rights.”

At the end of November, Farideh Moradkhani, daughter of Badri and granddaughter of the Supreme Leader, ended up in prison again. The human rights activist after urging governments to cut ties with Tehran over the suppression of the popular uprising.

Meanwhile, students at the University of Tehran in Iran were protesting today while the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ebrahim Raisi, was visiting their university for Student Day. Many of them were beaten. That’s what the Student Trade Union Council reported, quoted by BBC Persia. The students tried to demonstrate several times but were quickly attacked by the security forces. According to the boys, one of their companions, Mohammad Shabaati, “was kidnapped by the security forces and taken to the university’s security building.”

President Raisi argued that “protest is different from revolt”. “We are always determined to listen to the words of the students,” he affirmed.

Since September 16, Iranians have taken to the streets to protest the death of 22-year-old Kurdish woman Mahsa Amini in Tehran after she was arrested by Iran’s vice squad for not wearing her headscarf correctly.

“Protest leads to reform, while revolt leads to destruction and despair,” the Iranian president added. The president said universities are “think tanks and advice centers” and called for strengthening university-government ties and inviting students to solve problems.
