In the meantime, 63-year-old Maurice McIntyre will continue to benefit from days of probation with exit privileges.
On December 14, the board again extended his conditional probation for a period of three months while also scheduling a full parole hearing.
Some progress
“They have made great progress. If you are semi-released, you will continue to be accommodated in a halfway house,” the current decision states.
Furthermore, the criminal seems to enjoy his work and his employer is satisfied with his performance.
There is no violation or violation of the Terms. The 60-year-old earns a good salary and is debt-free, says his case management team.
Finally, the Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) describes its release plan as realistic and structured and granting full parole would not pose an unacceptable risk to the protection of society.
In September 2022, the Parole Board of Canada granted Maurice McIntyre day parole.
Since October 1991, the criminal was serving a third federal sentence of initially seven years for robbery, possession of narcotics, possession of a prohibited weapon, possession of a prohibited weapon and failure to comply with probation.
Imprisoned for 40 years
In 1998, McIntyre was sentenced to life in prison for first-degree murder, attempted murder, robbery and firearm use. Accompanied by accomplices, he stole an amount of almost $767,000, which was never found.
In 2020, the perpetrator of the shooting wanted “one last chance” to be an asset to society, but refused to report his accomplices even 26 years later.
On March 22, 1994, Maurice McIntyre and two accomplices planned a theft by taking money from two security guards from the Sécur company.
As the agents left the Bank of Montreal branch at the Galeries de la Capitale, McIntyre opened fire, killing 35-year-old agent Alain Labrie.
After spending 40 years of his life behind bars, Maurice McIntyre applied for unaccompanied leave.
