The pilot’s father, the children too, the hostess’ mother: here are the Webers, the family always on the run

by Leonard Berberi

After 37 years, Peter Sr., commander of United Airlines, is retiring. The last flight to the stick was carried out with the two sons (also pilots). Here’s her story

There is Commander Peter, who is retiring after 37 years of service. And there is the other Peter, his son, who, in addition to the name, also shares the job with his father (and in the same company). Not to mention Barbara, wife of Peter senior and mother of Peter junior, who are now retired after a distinguished career as a flight attendant with this airline. And then there’s Jack, the youngest son, who, not wanting to ruin his local reputation, is also a pilot. Obviously in the same company. Here, the Weber family of Westlake Village, California, have been at high altitude for four decades.

the message

To briefly tell their story, the social accounts of the US airline United Airlines, which also show Peter senior’s last flight – which took place on April 15 last year – on a Boeing 787. In addition to the captain, his two sons Peter junior (known in the US for his participation in the reality show The Bachelor) and Jack. Ladies and gentlemen, today is a very special day for us here at United, Peter junior tells the passengers. Our current commander is my hero and someone who has inspired me all my life: my father. Today I have the honor of being his first officer on his farewell flight. It will be the most special flight of my career.

The beginnings

In the video, Peter junior tells how he always wanted to work with his father. He has always liked airplanes since he was little, adds Peter senior. And finally, it might be difficult to get him to try anything else — aside from escaping in The Bachelor — given that the Webers have always been head and body in the clouds. Barbara was a flight attendant at United. Her future husband, Peter Senior, met him right at work and took stock of the staff before boarding the same plane.
