“The plane was a chaos”: Matthew McConaughey and Camila Alves traveled on a turbulent Lufthansa flight Houston

Camila Alves McConaughey has spoken out about the harrowing experience she and husband Matthew McConaughey had on a Lufthansa flight that was rocked by severe turbulence, taking seven people to hospitals.

In an Instagram post, the model revealed that the McConaugheys were en route on Lufthansa Flight 469 from Austin, Texas to Frankfurt, Germany on Wednesday night when the journey took a terrifying turn at 37,000 feet over Tennessee.

“Everything flew everywhere,” wrote Alves. “The plane was CHAOS.”

A flight attendant “hit the ceiling” as the Airbus A330-300 crashed twice within 20 seconds, passenger Jazz Kantipudi told NBC Washington.

A woman tried desperately to hold her baby.

Another passenger said a woman in front of him was thrown from her seat and landed behind him.

The turbulence continued, according to Alves.

Alves shared a video showing food, napkins and plates strewn on the floor of the plane.

“Thank God everyone is safe and well,” he wrote.

The flight was diverted to Washington Dulles International Airport and landed safely at approximately 9:10 p.m.

Alves said the couple stayed the night at a Marriott hotel near Dulles Airport.

“[Matthew McConaughey] and I got to the bar 1 minute before closing… I slept well, today I’m taking a new flight,” he said.

Lufthansa described the incident as brief but severe turbulence and said medical attention had been given to the injured.

All passengers were transferred to other flights and the plane returned to Germany with no passengers on board, according to Lufthansa.

“Lufthansa regrets the inconvenience caused to the passengers. The safety and welfare of passengers and crew is Lufthansa’s top priority at all times,” the airline said in a statement.
