Vice President of Bolivia warns of coup plans

The Plurinational Assembly in Argentina will bring together delegates from 14 countries

The appointment begins tomorrow at 08:30 local time in this capital, with the participation of former Bolivian President Evo Morales, and lasts until Sunday when a final statement is made.

Runasur is the compound of the word runa (man in Quechua) and unasur (union of South American nations) and aims to be an integration mechanism by and for the peoples.

At a press conference, Secretary General of Argentina’s State Workers’ Union, Hugo Godoy, stressed the importance of building a multinational America that respects the rights of women, farmers, indigenous peoples and workers.

Runasur will help strengthen unity, ties between nations and democracy in the region so that it is not the backyard of any power but a land of justice, he said.

For his part, the former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bolivia and coordinator of this organization, Fernando Huanacuni, assured that it is a mechanism to liberate the peoples from the political, ideological and cultural system that capitalism has imposed, chasing after Mother Earth plunders the resources and natural riches.

I hope that this meeting will unite us deeply. Runasur emerges from the struggle and memory of social and indigenous movements at a defining moment for the region. Today we live in times of change, we are beginning a new phase in which it is necessary to articulate our actions, he added.

He also urged defending people’s democracies, reclaiming identity and dignity, and developing regional strategies.

In turn, the head of the Central Unitaria de Trabajadores de Chile, Ramón Chanqueo, claimed that integration was possible to fight for independence, reclaim the economy and food sovereignty in the face of imperialist attempts to usurp Latin American resources.
