Faculty officials added that they will not require students to take their final exams for the winter semester, which ends Jan. 12, so they can postpone their homework.

A 24-year-old student opened fire in the faculty premises on December 21, killing 14 people and then committing suicide. Twenty-four other people were injured.

“All (student) evaluations are conducted on a voluntary basis and their format may be changed depending on the circumstances,” said a statement on the faculty’s website.

“We would like to assure you that even if you do not receive credit for the winter semester, you will be able to continue your studies with confidence and successfully complete your studies in the future,” the text continues.

As Christmas approached, the attack shocked this country of 10.8 million, a member of the European Union and NATO where shootings of this kind are extremely rare.

According to police, the attacker also killed two randomly selected people, a young father and his two-month-old daughter, on December 15 in a Prague suburb.

On the day of the shooting, the killer first murdered his father in the house where they lived together. The assassin's motives are not yet clear.
