Sales increase of 165 at Agropur

The preliminary agreement was approved in Agropur

The interim agreement signed at Agropur on Monday was accepted by 61% of the dairy cooperative’s workers on Wednesday, ending a strike that resulted in the wastage of more than 300,000 liters of milk.

Unable to reach an agreement with their employer, the workers went on strike on May 8th.

“The main demand from the employees was a catch-up salary. Agropur paid the Beaucerons significantly less than the other Quebec employees, and that was no longer acceptable. This is no longer the case and our sisters and brothers will be able to carry out their work with dignity,” commented Marc Béliveau, union representative of the Teamsters Union Chapter 1999, who was responsible for these negotiations, in a press release.

The workers had been without a contract since January 31.
