The President of Ecuador attends an Ibero American business meeting

Santo Domingo, March 24 (Prensa Latina) The President of Ecuador, Guillermo Lasso, today attended a business meeting in the Dominican Republic, organized as part of the XXVIII. Ibero-American Summit of Heads of State and Government.

The Ecuadorian President referred to the work his government is doing together with business to create jobs and encourage investment.

For his part, Ecuadorian Foreign Minister Juan Carlos Holguín attended the meeting of foreign ministers this Friday, which took place before the meeting of the heads of state and/or government.

On behalf of the Andean nation, Holguín highlighted the work and actions being taken to counteract the effects of climate change, shorten the digital divide, promote food security and reactivate the economy in the Iberoamerican region.

We are united by history, culture and common vision, but the most important legacy is cooperation between peers and solidarity between peoples, which we must deepen now and tomorrow, said the head of diplomacy.

The minister also mentioned the need to pool efforts in the fight against corruption and urged that this mission have everyone’s commitment without compromising ideological factors or political affinities.

The comments come as the opposition in Ecuador is pursuing impeachment proceedings against President Lasso for allegedly concealing facts about corruption in public companies and links to drug trafficking.

The head of the Ecuadorian executive will attend the inauguration of the Ibero-American Summit tonight and tomorrow the meeting of rulers, where he will receive the pro tempore presidency of this political unification mechanism.

In addition, Lasso will hold a bilateral meeting with his Uruguayan counterpart Luis Lacalle this Saturday.
