Sony released its new PS5 “Slim” on November 24, 2023, a model that replaces the previous version in stores.
But as many, both journalists and gamers, have not overlooked, the console is not that thin. If it loses 30% of its volume, it won’t reach the levels we’ve seen in the past like the PS2 or the PS4 Slim.
A modder therefore decided to reduce the console’s volume even further to achieve a truly tiny result.

In this new project, the modder, as usual, used 3D printers and high-quality cutting tools to design this new PS5. Of course, if it is necessary to reuse the console’s original motherboard, everything else can be customized as desired.
The cooling system is therefore significantly smaller, with a brand new cooler and fan pair from Alpenföhn and Noctua, as well as the new power supply that comes from HDPlex. We then had to connect all of this with new connections and buttons so that the machine could be used.

The only thing this PS5 Tiny had to remove from the console is its hard drive reader. Sony apparently doesn’t allow the use of extension cables between the console’s motherboard and that of the player. But that didn’t stop NFC, which found a solution by using a “breakout board,” a tiny printed circuit, to make the external reader work.
The result is impressive: a console that appears to be half the size of its big sister, but offers the same performance and functions. The thermal performance is also excellent, as the device only gets a few degrees hotter, so you no longer hear any fan noise while gaming.
