The Public Prosecutor’s Office will summon Lacalle Pou to investigate the Marset case

Machado is leading the investigation into the issuance of a passport to Uruguayan drug trafficker Sebastián Marset, as well as the criminal proceedings into alleged crimes by high-ranking government officials who resigned the previous week.

According to former Vice Chancellor Carolina Ache, her presidential advisor Roberto Laflufle said he had destroyed sensitive documents for the tax investigation in the case.

In this text, the conversations between Ache and the Undersecretary of the Interior, Guillermo Maciel, were recorded and the dangerousness of the drug trafficker Marset was acknowledged.

Ache and Lafluf also attended a meeting at the Executive Tower, the headquarters of the executive branch, to coordinate actions on the matter at Lacalle Pou’s request.

The president admitted in a television appearance last Saturday that he was at the meeting “to say hello.”

Prosecutor Machado must also subpoena former advisor Lafluf. When it is the president’s turn, he can respond in writing or receive the tax team, Montevideo Portal reported.

The political crisis surrounding the Marset case has so far led to the resignation and replacement of two ministers, two deputy ministers and the president’s most important adviser on communications and image issues.
