“The purgatory of intimacies”: Normand D’Amour shares the big screen with influencers

It’s hard to stay frozen while watching the official trailer for the film The purgatory of intimacies with comedians Normand D’Amour, Brigitte Lafleur, Sonia Vachon and influencers Karine St-Michel and Lysandre Nadeau.

The Purgatory of the Intimates, the second film by the young 22-year-old director Philippe Cormier (When the Heart Is Troubled), has something to fascinate about. The official trailer released this week already manages to take us through a whole range of emotions in less than three minutes.

Surprising cast

The character of Alain, played by Normand D’Amour, a 55-year-old man who suffered trauma following the death of his mother, is portrayed as one of the most complex and mysterious, on the verge of pouring both the thought into evil.

The distribution is also surprising; Well-known and established actors (Jean-Pierre Bergeron, Brigitte Lafleur, Sonia Vachon, Karl Farah) share the screen with reality TV and web personalities, including Karine St-Michel, participant in Occupation Double Bali in 2017 and the Influencers Lysandre Nadeau and Gabrielle Marion.

The actress and defeated candidate of the Conservative Party of Quebec, Anne Casabonne, is also part of the distribution.

Karine St-Michel has also landed one of the leading roles, that of Cherry Blossom. Lysandre Nadeau becomes Sunshine, an uninhibited masseuse whose role is secondary to that of Ashley, played by Gabrielle Marion. The latter was also in the distribution of Philippe Cormier’s first feature film, When the heart disturbs, which was released on Apple TV in 2022 and on Club illico and Télé-Québec earlier this year.

Finally, Carène, the opening song, is signed by Quebec singer-songwriter Meghan Oak and fits perfectly into the mysterious and moving side of this trailer, which ends with a long scream let out by the character Normand D’ Love.

The film Le purgatoire des intimates is described by director Philippe Cormier as “the work that allowed me to adopt my artistic signature”. It will be offered exclusively on the Crave Canada platform this spring.
