The Texas Rangers began their series against the Tampa Bay Rays with a 4-0 shutout on Tuesday at Tropicana Field.
This duel was broadcast on TVA Sports 2. Check out the highlights in the video above.
Starter Jordan Montgomery (1-0) allowed just six hits to the crowd favorite and worked seven innings on the mound. The 30-year-old left-hander also prevailed against five competitors.
To make things easier, Aroldis Chapman and José Leclerc were uncompromising.
The Rangers scored first in the second inning. Josh Jung made a sacrifice fly that allowed Nathaniel Lowe to get around the lanes.
Three missions later, Rays shooter Tyler Glasnow (0-1) made a mistake. He missed one of his throws even though all the bases were full. Corey Seager took the opportunity to touch home plate.
Then Glasnow recovered and got two strikeouts to end the inning. However, he gave out two free passes to the first two batters he faced in the sixth, ending his duel. Those two Rangers players, Evan Carter and Marcus Semien, then scored on a single by Seager.
The Rangers will look to win the best of three series this Wednesday. This meet will be broadcast on TVA Sports 2 starting at 3 p.m.
The team that wins in this first phase of baseball’s major playoffs will then face the Baltimore Orioles in a best-of-five series.
