Most current news

After AfD leader Tino Chrupalla was hospitalized following an incident at an election campaign event in Bavaria, forensic examination of his blood samples did not reveal any special results. The German Press Agency learned from investigators on Friday that the investigators’ toxicology examination was unremarkable.

Chrupalla’s office had already made available for inspection a medical discharge letter from the Ingolstadt Clinic, according to which the toxicological examination at the hospital had also been negative. The letter mentioned both an “intramuscular injection” and an “infection with an unclear substance.”

“Needle prick” is mentioned in the discharge letter

A “needle prick” in the right arm is also mentioned in the letter during the results of the AfD leader’s physical examination. A spokeswoman for the Ingolstadt Public Prosecutor’s Office was initially unable to confirm the information on Friday.

Police and the Public Prosecutor’s Office announced on Thursday that there was “no evidence that Mr. Chrupalla was approached or attacked.” According to initial findings, “several people took selfies with Mr. Chrupalla at the event, during which there was slight physical contact.” However, the Ingolstadt Public Prosecutor’s Office began an investigation into an initial suspicion of bodily harm – initially without any specific suspects.

AfD speaks of an “incident of aggression” against Tino Chrupalla

The AfD’s federal office had previously spoken of an “incident of aggression”, according to a spokesperson for Chrupalla’s office of a “puncture site”. Police and the Public Prosecutor’s Office, however, only said that “superficial redness or swelling” was found on Chrupalla’s arm.

According to the federal party, Chrupalla was discharged from hospital on Thursday. He will “seek additional medical treatment.” All scheduled dates for the election campaign in Bavaria have been cancelled. (dpa/mbo)
