In their first game of 2024, the Laval Rocket won 4-3 in a shootout against the Utica Comets on Friday night at the Adirondack Bank Center.

Sean Farrell and Philippe Maillet scored in the shootout, while goalkeeper Jakub Dobes frustrated the two outfield players he faced in the closing stages of this game.

Maillet also scored a goal in the third period, allowing his team to tie the game with about six minutes left in regulation time.

Arber Xhekaj scored the second goal for the Montreal Canadiens farm club. He scored for the second straight game and picked up a fourth point in three games. It was also his third goal in 11 games since being demoted to the American League in early December.
