Alex-Olivier Voyer scored his first goal of the season and played a second game with the Laval team. Joel Armia then beat goalie Dustin Tokarski while shorthanded.
Justin Richards closed the gap before the end of the first period, while Brandon Biro equalized in the second period.
Viktor Neuchev gave the crowd favorite the lead for the first time in the game in the final period. However, The Rocket hadn’t said his last word yet and Nicolas Beaudin brought everyone back on level terms.
Ultimately, it was Jiri Kulich who decided the debate in extra time.
The Rocket and Americans will meet at the same venue on Friday evening. The Quebec team then travels to Syracuse on Saturday to face the Crunch.
