On Friday, October 20th, The Rolling Stones released their long-awaited new album, Hackney Diamonds. To mark the occasion, the rockers gave a private concert in a small New York club, the Racket NYC, just a few hours before the release of their record.
“It seems like we always release our albums in New York,” Mick Jagger told the audience at Racket NYC. “We did it in an airship. We did it on a flatbed truck driving down 5th Avenue,” he said mischievously. “We missed the releases so much that we had to make another album and re-release it.”
A stunning show
The Rolling Stones performed several songs from “Hackney Diamond,” their first album, in front of many celebrities, including Daniel Craig, Chris Rock, Mary-Kate Olsen, Trevor Noah, Jimmy Fallon, Rachel Weisz, Elvis Costello and Christy Turlington. Original music since 2005. “Angry”, “Whole Wide World”, “Bite My Head Off”. They also sang their biggest hits like “Tumbling Dice,” “Jumpin’ Jack Flash” and “Shattered.”
To round off the evening in style, they performed another new song for the first time, “Sweet Sounds of Heaven,” an energetic ballad recorded with two other musical monsters, Lady Gaga and Stevie Wonder. To everyone’s surprise, Lady Gaga joined the Stones on stage for a stunning duet. Check out some pictures below.
