The Russian Senate will debate the declaration ending the blockade against Cuba

Moscow, November 7 (Prensa Latina) The Federation Council (Russian Senate) announced today that on November 8 it will analyze the declaration on the need to end the economic, commercial and financial blockade of the United States against Cuba.

In the statement published by the Sputnik news agency, the Federation Council calls on the Inter-Parliamentary Union, other parliamentary organizations and the parliaments of other countries to immediately demand the lifting of the blockade against the Caribbean state.

It also calls for the adoption of appropriate measures in support of the UN General Assembly resolution.

The UN General Assembly, in its 78th session, approved the resolution “Need to end the economic, trade and financial embargo imposed by the United States against Cuba” with 187 votes; The USA and Israel were against it, Ukraine abstained; Moldova, Somalia and Venezuela did not participate.

The Senate of the Russian Federation emphasized that by implementing a neo-colonial policy of unilateral sanctions against sovereign countries, the United States is grossly violating the fundamental norms and principles of international law and the UN Charter.

“The senators assert that the sanctions imposed against Cuba are illegitimate, unjust and destructive and represent an attempt to harm the Cuban people and undermine the economic and humanitarian relations of the Republic of Cuba with other states,” the document says.

The document underlines that the Federation Council considers strengthening Russian-Cuban relations as one of the priority areas of its activities.
