“I loved our game. We had an impeccable work ethic. All the boys made an effort tonight [vendredi] pushing in the same direction,” said Sags head coach Yanick Jean.
The pilot from Alma had explained it well; He wanted his squad to focus on one period at a time. Among his teammates, Maxim Massé stood out the most with four points including two goals.
It was the Armada who took the lead early in the game through a power play.
Josh Lawrence single-handedly gave his team the lead. The 20-year-old veteran made his way in front of the net with a beautiful counterfeit before beating goalkeeper Charles-Antoine Lavallée.
Maxim Massé and Zachary Gravel both found the net with two good shots that were thwarted by goalkeeper Nicholas Sheehan.
Bulan in the hospital
Sags’ Latvia defender Peteris Bulans saw his match ended after one contact. He will be out “long-term” with a broken collarbone.
Massé scored his second goal of the night when Emmanuel Vermette served him the goal on a silver platter.
Thomas Bégin allowed the sags to widen the gap. His backhand shot took Sheehan completely by surprise in the top corner.
Alexis Bourqu made it 4-2 in the middle of the last period. Emmanuel Vermette scored in an empty cage at the end of the game.
