The DXOMARK company tests smartphones using very scientific protocols. According to this, the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra is the best smartphone in the premium segment when it comes to battery life. It’s well ahead of the iPhone 13 Pro Max and iPhone 14 Pro Max, which are often cited as champions in this space.

If the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra impressed us on one point, it was its autonomy. With light use, the phone easily lasted 48 hours straight, a real improvement compared to phones from years past and, more broadly, compared to Samsung smartphones before it.
DXOMARK, a company specializing in scientific testing of phones, has placed it very high in its autonomy ranking. With 142 points, it is in 6th place of all tested smartphones, which is already a good achievement. Before that, we mainly find smartphones under 600 euros, which could be described as entry-level to mid-range and which are therefore in many other respects (photos, screen, processing quality, etc.)
Once confronted with premium smartphones (over 800 euros), the Galaxy S23 Ultra prevails and gets a first place. With 142, it is 2 points ahead of the Asus Rog Phone 6, but also 6 points ahead of the iPhone 13 Pro Max and 9 points ahead of the iPhone 14 Pro Max or the Vivo X80 Pro. The iPhones are often referred to as champions of autonomy, ahead of them by a wide margin, so we can say that this first place is achieved in a relatively comfortable way.
Why such a good score?
Interestingly, the Galaxy S23 Ultra gets this spot without getting a top score in any of the DXOMARK sub-results. Above all, this testifies to a good overall balance and the ability to stand out in terms of autonomy in the premium segment. “Flagships often struggle with battery performance issues due to their new power-hungry features. Here, careful hardware and software integration plays an important role in battery performance.
The Galaxy S23 Ultra, according to its tests, shows a very good autonomy with moderate use, excellent autonomy for watching videos and low discharge in general. On the side of the points that still need improvement, DXOMARK highlights a breakdown after the 5% battery has expired and a worse autonomy when using the camera or listening to music.
