The Senators reach an agreement with Shane Pinto, who is serving the end of his massive suspension

The matter with Shane Pinto has now been resolved: The Ottawa Senators forward signed a one-year contract worth $775,000 on Friday so that he can play again next weekend.

Suspended for 41 games due to a sports betting scandal, the 23-year-old will be allowed to play against the Philadelphia Flyers on Sunday before his team comes to the Bell Center two days later for a duel with the Montreal Canadiens. In the last few days he has started training again with his teammates.

The return of Pinto, who scored 20 goals and 15 assists for 35 points in 82 games last season, should help the Senators. As the bottom team in the Atlantic Section of the National Hockey League, they defeated the Habs 6-2 on Thursday to secure their second win in three games.
