The Senators return to victory

After a three-game losing streak, the Ottawa Senators defeated the Pittsburgh Penguins 5-2 on Saturday night at PPG Paints Arena.

The local favorites were almost non-existent in this one-sided encounter. With just under six minutes left in the opening period, Brady Tkachuk accepted a great pass from Claude Giroux before beating Tristan Jarry on the glove side.

The Senators captain scored a second goal in the third period, this time thanks to offers from Tim Stuetzle and Travis Hamonic, before Drake Batherson tied the score for good. Ridly Greig and Dominik Kubalik also gave the “Sens” a red light.

For the Penguins, Sidney Crosby and Jake Guentzel were the two goal scorers. The captain of the “Pens” also received an assist in his team’s defeat.

In goal, the Ottawa club’s goalkeeper Joonas Korpisalo was spectacular, making 39 saves on 41 shots. The same cannot be said for Jarry, who gave up three times out of nine shots before giving way to Magnus Hellberg.

The Predators win against the Maple Leafs

Ilya Samsonov celebrated his comeback in front of the cage of the Toronto Maple Leafs, who recently preferred to rely on Joseph Woll. Let’s say things didn’t go as planned for the Russian, who conceded three goals on 24 shots, including the goal that helped the Nashville Predators win in overtime.

With this setback, the Torontonians have an identical record (5-2-1) as the Montreal Canadiens.

Things started well for the Leafs, however, as William Nylander scored on passes from his sidekicks Auston Matthews and Mitch Marner on the power play to give his team a 1-0 lead.

However, the Nashville players showed resilience. They came from behind twice. The club’s stars had a productive evening. Roman Josi (one goal and one assist) and Ryan O’Reilly (two goals) had two points. Filip Forsberg also collected two assists.

Panthers and Islanders get the job done

Earlier on Saturday, the Florida Panthers defeated the Seattle Kraken. Matthew Tkachuk finally scored his first goal of the season, which brought his team back to 2-2. Finally, Nick Cousins, the former CH, scored the winning goal in the tournament with 5 minutes and 52 seconds left.

For the Kraken, Jared McCann and Eeli Tolvanen are the players who defeated Segei Bobrovsky.

Finally, the New York Islanders earned a modest 2-0 win against the Columbus Blue Jackets. Kyle Palmieri caused a stir with his third goal of the season and Matt Martin. Semyon Varlamov recorded a shutout with 34 saves.
