The revolt against Vladimir Putin is lowgrade and silent because of the risk of arrest or assassination, but there is growing uneasiness among the Russian elite at the war unleashed by the Kremlin’s butcher.
Bloomberg says:
“Nearly eight weeks after Vladimir Putin deployed troops to Ukraine, with military casualties mounting and Russia facing unprecedented international isolation, a small — but growing — number of senior Kremlin officials are quietly questioning their decision to go into the to go to war.
Critics at the center of power remain limited and spread to highlevel positions in government and stateowned companies. They believe the invasion was a catastrophic mistake that will cripple the country for years, according to 10 people with direct knowledge of the situation. All spoke on condition of anonymity, with great fear of reprisals.
A growing number of senior figures have come to believe that Putin’s decision to continue the invasion will condemn Russia to years of isolation and heightened tensions that will cripple its economy, threaten its security and destroy its global influence. Some tycoons have issued veiled statements questioning the Kremlin’s strategy, but many in power fear repression.”
